I like "sugar-coated", "unrealistic" shows, then. :D Life is already realistic enough. Haha When I watch something, I want to be pleasantly entertained, not reminded of everyday life. Which is why I love Avonlea. :)

Hearts and Flowers-observation

I noticed as I was watching this episode the other evening, that as Hetty was handing the dead bird to Chef Pierre, you could see that the palm of her hand was green! Then after that, you can see the green on her hand a couple times before she begins wiping her hand off on Pierre's apron. :D I guess...

The Potts' status in "A Mother's Love"

I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that the Potts family in "A Mother's Love" seem to be portrayed as more poor than on the other episodes? It doesn't seem like their house looked so ill kept any other time on the show, and Mrs. Potts wasn't ever so sloppy looking. What do you think?

I don't know why Andrew just dissappeared, but I liked him, too. And yes, it seems to me like his character was based on Beverly in the books.

At the beginning of the series he did look in need of a bath, a trip to the dentist and a new wardrobe. But I agreed with Felicity when she said "Underneath your vagabond clothing beats the heart of a gentleman." :) And his hygiene did improve with time. Haha

I always thought his accent really was Irish. Haha :D My sister and I were "in love" with him when we were younger, mostly because of the accent. :)

Personally, " Thursday's Child" is one of my least favorite episodes. I'm surprised it was rated so highly. Still, all of Avonlea is very good. :)

Hi! Great to hear from you! I first saw Avonlea on a video tape from the public library. Then I had a couple friends over the years who taped it for me off the Disney Channel, which we didn't have. I'm starting to buy the seasons on DVD now. :) I'm from Idaho in the USA. I was born in New York, and ...

I actually really like "Kilmeny of the Orchard". It's one of my favorites. I think "Magic For Marigold", A Tangled Web" and "Jane of Lantern Hill" were my least favorite books by LMM. Still, she's a great author!

Yeah, people have a tendency to vote for an incumbent during times of war. As is evidenced by the last US election. Blech. I think the last US election went very well. :D About L M Montgomery's political views, I always supposed she was conservative since most of her main characters were (including...

I love the whole episode. It's probably my favorite. But I especially like the part where Gus plays his fiddle to the fish. :) I love fiddle music, as it's been a big part of my life. My brother is a champion fiddler, so we went to a ton of fiddle contests growing up. :) Anyway, it's a great episode.

Hi Valancy! I was excited to see a posting from someone near to Australia! :D I'm not a native Australian, but my husband is. We took a trip to New Zealand a year and a half ago. I loved it! It's so beautiful. :) And it's always nice to find more people who are fans of Avonlea ( and all things relat...

Actually, in the Season 5 episode "Otherwise Engaged", Gus is shown playing his fiddle ( very shortly ). But I heartily agree that he should have been playing it a lot more throughout the series! I love the fiddle, so I really noticed this omission.

I didn't think Booth was great, but I still really enjoyed the episodes about Sara's romance. :) It was better than no romance at all. Haha Maybe she thought so, too. :D

However, my brother thought Booth was pretty funny and interesting. I guess he was in his own way.
