In retrospect it was probably all Felicity's fault. She could have easily at the very beginning told Arthur that she was 'Gus's girl" but she didn't. In fact she even led him to believe he HAD a chance. So we have Gus thinking he has Felicity all locked up and Felicity thinking quite something else....

Deserving of a beating?? Why on earth for? He was trying to win Felicity's attention fair and square. He did nothing underhanded. Feliity and Gus weren't married, or engaged. He was working on the farm when Gus went all the way over there to attack him!! Not like they ran into each other on the stre...

I guess I'm old fashioned, but you really don't prove you're the better man by beating up the other guy--with a sucker-punch no less. Methinks Gus well knew Arthur was a pacifist and was probably suprised when he got up and actually fought back. The "proper" way to have done the thing (if there IS a...

Felicity's Perfect Beau

Just re-watched that episode last night. I'm not really a maor fan of Gus anyway (At least the later Gus. Early Gus was pretty good) but did it irritate anyone else that he (without warning) punches Arthur? Then when the fight is broken up, he accuses Arthur of fighting also!! What was the poor guy ...

As AvonleA suggests ,like most lists of the best of anything, this one seems geared to the "here and now" which (unfortunately) is all that too many people are aware of.

THanks! Glad to hear that. I know how actors can act and still hide their utter distaste for each other--witness Laverne and Shirley, Suzanne Sommers on Three's Company, etc.

Introducing myself

Hello! My name IS Brent and I watched Avonlea on TV when it was originally aired. I MIGHT have missed one or two episodes, but that's all. I'm 63 and my wife is 52. We're now watching the shows again on DVD and I still feel it was one of the best shows yet aired on TV. The location ,scenery , and co...

Hannikan states it quite well. RTA is a nice, GENUINE show that has sweet and sad moments, some tragedy, some triumph, some humor etc. It's really well balanced and well written.

Polley isn't the first "child" actress to repudiate her time in TV--nor will she be the last. For some reason she (they) think they won't outgrow the "silly" role. Some do (she has) Some don't. (Look at Jerry Mathers). Personally, I'll bet that exposure paved the way for her further acting roles. To...
