Re: Your Favorite RTA Opening Credits

It's always difficult to decide for the opening credits whether or not to use scenes from that season. So I can understand using mostly S3 footage for the S4 opening credits, and excluding the Pettibones. For example, the Season 7 credits show the cannery being destroyed, which is kind of a spoiler....

Re: Money Value in Avonlea

Interesting, Marilla. Might the cost of replacing the roof also have been a bit less due to some people volunteering to help so it was more the cost of the materials and paint? Would the dollar value figure be moreso for goods? Were labour costs proportionally lower back then in terms of extra fees?

I like this DVD Holder with Strap which can also be handy on a cold winter night.

Re: Season 4 Remastered

Oh, that's disappointing Season 3's visual quality isn't as good as S1 and S2. I would rather they slow down the releases if they do a good job with each. :(

Re: Stuart McRae

While I definitely agree that using actual past characters would have been more emotionally moving, Clemmie dying would have been too sad, and Peter being paired with Felicity would have felt a little unnatural, given they hardly seemed close in the earlier season, plus Peter was younger than Felici...

Oh gosh, that is not good. You should tell them... that's a huge mistake. :(

Re: Your Favorite RTA Opening Credits

Some of the children in the opening credits seem to be body doubles, maybe from the establishing shot from PEI? It is interesting how the new opening credits are different. They've tried to find a similar shot... the Church, riding by the shore, etc., even if the specific shot itself is not exactly ...

Re: 6.3: Christmas in June

I read the book (well, 3/4 of it) long after I had watched the series, and I agree that the Book Sara didn't seem very much like the TV Sara, who was a bit sweeter and more even-tempered (overall), though I didn't find the series Sara that similar to the Book Cecily either. At least in the first boo...

Re: Who appeard in the most episodes?

The IMDB data isn't the most reliable, unfortunately... I think the best source for this is AvFan's site, since she has done a season-by-season count. http://avonleavignettes.com/rta/appearances.html This is from her link above. The top 5 most seen characters would be: 78 episodes - Felix - in 86% o...

Re: Misplaced Episodes

I like your idea for Sara in "Otherwise Engaged", weatherman15. Not addressing Sara leaving Avonlea at the end of S5 was a big mistake. It's hard to pick which episode to take Sara out of in S5 because she was only in four of them. Sara's role in "A Friend in Need" is the most inconsequential, but l...

Re: Asexual RTA

Even though KS confirmed that Cpt. Crane was Gus's actual father, just based on what we saw from the show itself, it could very well have been Abe Pike while he was married to Eliza which resulted in Gus.

Re: Asexual RTA

I agree that this was mainly because "Road to Avonlea" was a family drama, and I had little yearning for any more, especially since I watched the show with my family members. Even though it was Victorian times, if it were real, characters like Felix and his friends would likely have been more vulgar...

Re: 6.3: Christmas in June

I would not have wanted them to kill off Cecily, if they did not plan to meaningfully show the effects on the other characters, beyond their usual 1 episode of mourning. As weatherman15 said, it would have affected the tone of S6-7, where some of the "funner" episodes would have to be toned down or ...

Thanks for the clip. She looks very pretty. Her voice seemed a bit different, though. I don't think I would have immediately recognized her.
