Thanks!

I would go back and delete my own off-topics posts/topics, but I don't see a way to do it. If I can't outright delete a post, I'll edit down to the wording 'off topic.'

This was so much fun to read and very insightful. I think you nailed why Stuart comes across as unlikeable. Such a great character study on him too! Wow! I'm looking forward to reading more of your impressions.

Another suggestion--perhaps the topics that are non-LMM related can deleted or the posts within topics that veer into religious/political discussions can be deleted? While I believe most people will follow the rules now added to the site, most forums had had to deal with flamers who will ignore the ...

I'm not upset. I think it's the best decision KS could make. While Annes 1 and 2 are nearly flawless miniseries adaptions, Annes 3 and 4 wreck the characters and the continuity. Both critics and fans have bashed him for what he did to LMM's characters--and maybe the message has started to sink in, t...

I haven't gotten into any of the dark stuff yet The dark stuff I refer to happens in 'Emily's Quest.' 'Dark' probably isn't the correct word. Maybe heartwrenching and painful are better words. There are hints of it coming in the first two books, but LMM really unpacks in EQ. Imagine 'Anne's House o...

Did anyone else feel like the beginning of the first book dragged or was like a less interesting version of Anne? Or was I just too impatient? I just read through the first 30 pages last night and I have to agree the pace is slower. One thing that bothered me is that I feel I didn't connect to the ...

The short stories

Since there are several collections of LMM's short stories, I made the title rather general so all can be discussed. Despite the fact that she is Canadian, my first observation would be that several of LMM's short stories come as rather Southern Gothic. My other is that she exponates some rather dis...

It could also be them reflecting on the series after twenty years.
Ooh! I like that idea!

Is any of the AvCon stuff ever taped? Because Sully could even use that for interview material. (God bless you lucky people who get to attend it!)

Has anyone read Further Chronicles of Avonlea ? Two stories in it reminded me hugely of the Emily series: "The Son of His Mother" and "The Education of Betty." "Son" reminded me so much of Teddy and his mother in this series. It was almost like LMM was using the short story to test how twisted she c...

I think you'll probably get to the "Pat" books sooner than I will. I'm just finishing "Further Chronicles of Avonlea" and will be starting to reread the "Emily" series soon. Pat is the most ordinary of all the heroines, but she seems to be one of the more polarizing since her only ambition is stay a...

This topic makes me sad seeing all those posts from 2006 and now it is 2009 and no movie. I'm slightly optimistic we'll get another one, but only slightly. I think Sully is partly right about period television having fallen out favor in the U.S. Once upon a time, A&E and Bravo ran period drama stuff...

Sullivan, tragically, won't restore his material for the HD age. Seasons 6 and 7 though might look decent since they weren't filmed on analog stock. (Seasons 1-5 were.) I'm not sure how much difference in quality the different stock types might though since the series hasn't been restored by Sullivan.
