Technical question

Post by Miss Lewis » Sat Nov 11, 2006 7:42 pm

How do I attribute a quote to someone? I take the part of the text I want to use and paste it into my input box. Then I highlight it and push the “quote” button. Then I want to designate who the quote is from but have no idea how to do it. I tried [quote=Miss Lewis] but this doesn’t work. What is the code to do it? It’s probably very obvious but right now I am at a loss.

I think you can attribute a quote to somebody by pushing the quote button in his/her post, not the quote button in your input box. Just push it and you won't need to copy the part you want anymore. It's beside the post subject in each post. I'm sure you can find it

Sara's right. You can just click on the 'quote' button in the person's field that you want to quote. You came close for to entering it manually. You just need to add parenthesis around "Miss Lewis" and end with a [/quote] tag. I hope that helps.

I like to manually select it because I like to choose the parts I quote. The general quote thing quotes the whole post and I don’t often like doing that. I like to focus on the part I am responding too.

I am still having trouble manually putting it in. Here let me show you.

[quote(Timothy)] You came close for to entering it manually. [/quote]

It didn’t come up with a quote box. Did I manually type in the command wrong? Am I missing spaces somewhere? Could it be something in my profile that prevents me from doing it? (BBCode is enabled, Smilies are enabled).
You came close for to entering it manually.
I can still do general quote but I can't attribute the name to the person who said it.

Please cut and paste the following code into a message and let me know if it works. Thanks!

Anytime. I'm glad it worked.

Now does Izzy love Edward? Hmm, I'll have to think about that one.
