Sara is taunted by Felicity when she plans to submit an essay naming Hetty as 'Mother of the Year.' In retaliation, Sara plants a letter, stating that Felicity was switched at birth with Sally Potts.
Comments: Sara's journey culminates in this episode as the Story Girl unites with Hetty to challenge the definition of motherhood. Oh, and it was also voted Avonlea's greatest episode!

Hetty travels to the Governor's office to prevent an over-zealous lawyer from selling the King pond watering rights, leaving Sara under Felicity's authoritative command.
Comments: It narrowly lost the top spot, but "Proof" may come closest to capturing the spirit, atmosphere and sheer fun of Montgomery's beloved Story Girl novel.

Felicity gets into trouble with Alec after seeking the attention of a young cricket player.
Comments: The best Gus and Felicity episode is the episode where it all began. "Kissing" single handedly shifted the focus of the series away from Sara Stanley.

Hetty attempts to compete with Muriel Stacey's teaching achievements, by recruiting Gus Pike as a student for the Avonlea schoolhouse.
Comments: "Ordeal" showcases Jackie Burroughs' finest performance, the introduction of Gus Pike and the best ending of the series. What else can anyone ask for?

Felicity encourages her parents to dine at the White Sands so that she can arrange a romantic dinner alone with Gus Pike. Alec is infuriated when he discovers her deceptive scheme.
Comments: Felicity wonders if she will die an old maid without being kissed. Maybe she should look at the episode ranked at #3 to refresh her memory.

The King family plan a surprise party to celebrate Hetty's 50th birthday. The birthday plans go astray when Hetty falls deathly ill and must require surgery.
Comments: Another great performance by Jackie Burroughs. It's ridiculous that the Emmy's never nominated Burroughs for an award.

Gus proposes to Felicity and she must make a difficult choice between marriage and medical college.
Comments: In 2005, "Engaged" was the #1 episode in the Power Rankings. Interestingly, it lost the top spot within weeks and never regained the prized position.

Felicity confronts Stuart about Gus's return. Jasper and Olivia plan to leave Avonlea for England, which causes Hetty to dissent against the King family and she promptly refuses to attend the wedding.
Comments: Say what you will about the rushed ending. At least we got a satisfying finale to the series and we're not left with a cliff hanger like some shows that are prematurely cancelled.
