Felicity confronts Stuart about Gus's return. Jasper and Olivia plan to leave Avonlea for England, which causes Hetty to dissent against the King family and she promptly refuses to attend the wedding.
Comments: Say what you will about the rushed ending. At least we got a satisfying finale to the series and we're not left with a cliff hanger like some shows that are prematurely cancelled.

When Hetty catches Jasper and Olivia's trying to elope, she takes full charge of their wedding arrangements. Panic ensues as Olivia's wedding dress is misplaced and the wedding appears to be in shambles.
Comments: Season three is the only season that fails to land an episode in the top ten. Season three's finest--"Ties"--comes the closest.

Hetty and Jasper rally to prevent an industrialist from transforming Avonlea into a town of the future.
Comments: The most meaningful "big picture" Avonlea episode that defines the series place in time. Sullivan believed "Home Move" was a landmark episode because it "made the audience reflect on why they like Avonlea."

When Blair Stanley faces embezzlement charges, the wealthy Montreal businessman sends his daughter Sara to stay with her late mother's relatives in the small maritime town of Avonlea.
Comments: The episode that started it all introduces us to the beloved characters, sets the initial plot and tone of the series -- and ultimately fails to crack the top ten. Like Rodney Dangerfield, "Journey Begins" just gets no respect.

Felix and Izzy's friendship is threatened when a rumor is spread that Felix kissed Izzy.

Janet and her sister Abigail quarrel when they visit an auction with Hetty and Olivia. Alec, Jasper, Felix and Gus go ice fishing while Sara and Felicity look after Lucky MacEwen.

Hetty resigns as school teacher after being criticized for pushing her students too hard for an upcoming history bee. An eccentric actor, Alistair Dimple, replaces Hetty and teaches the children through a method of play-acting and theatrics.

Old rivalries flare when Hetty's childhood crush, Romney Penhallow, returns to Avonlea.

Hetty begins writing a pulp fiction romance and is infuriated when Olivia publishes it at the Chronicle. Clive Pettibone becomes the new school teacher, but his militant methods of teaching become too much for the town to tolerate.
Comments: For some weird reason it was decided that Hetty was going to mirror the writing career of Lucy Maud Montgomery. This isn't a great tribute considering Sullivan thought Montgomery was a "lousy" story teller.

Comments: The only episode where Sara is truly The Story Girl and her special talent is mostly forgotten for the rest of the series. Heck, by the fourth season, even Hetty becomes a more successful writer than Sara.

Ever since I saw this episode, I've thought a lot less of Jasper, since I've seen him act like Jerem...
